Who are we?

Rob Kluger set up Strike in 2011 to produce online and broadcast trailers for West End musicals, plays and live acts that would reach a wider audience than regular theatre goers and tourists. Whilst valuing the importance of these integral audiences, we recognised the need to avoid the principle of just providing a literal translation of what was on stage.

Strike's approach is to instead film with the understanding that an audience is watching on screen and are not captive in an auditorium. For this reason the ‘theatre of the trailer’ needs to be adapted to challenge and excite the imagination of the viewer. We work with a trusted and innovative crew of filmmakers with a wealth of experience across film, advertising and television to produce trailers that accomplish this.

Ginger TV

Before embarking on a career in directing, Rob Kluger's first job was for Chris Evan's Ginger TV. In between studying at Salford University and working as features writer for the North West publication Student Direct, Rob worked on the Virgin Breakfast Show, TFI Friday and Channel 4's The Priory.

Highlights included learning the production process of live television but most importantly enjoying a private audience of David Bowie's hits after accompanying the singer onstage during soundcheck. Other responsibilities that served no purpose to a career in film included serving behind the infamous TFI bar during the show, assisting on shoots, preparing scripts and learning each and every street in the West End during his various stints at Ginger TV.
